RIDGWAY - A Byrnedale woman has pleaded guilty in connection with an overdose death Monday.
Elk County District Attorney Shawn McMahon said Allison Miller, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy for drug delivery resulting in death. McMahon said she was sentenced to four to 10 years in prison.
Miller and Theresa Sample, 27, were charged in February in the March 2017 death of Kaitlyn Buerk, Miller's sister and Sample's cousin.
According to police, Miller bought 20 bags of what she believed was heroin from a man in Pittsburgh.
Police said that text messages showed that Sample and Miller were selling the drugs to people and sold five bags to Buerk.
Lab results revealed that those bags were straight fentanyl.
Sample waived her preliminary hearing last week and is awaiting trial.
McMahon said in February this was the first time drug delivery resulting in death charges were levied in the county.
