VERDICT:

A jury has found Nancy Focht guilty of fatally shooting her husband in 2018.

After approximately an hour and a half of deliberations, the jury convicted the 76-year-old woman on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 74-year-old David Focht Sr.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on October 27th.

DAY 3:

Testimony wrapped up Friday in the homicide trial of Nancy Focht, who is accused of shooting and killing her husband in Bedford County in September of 2018.

During closing arguments, the prosecution emphasized that Focht reportedly changed her story about the shooting multiple times.

Focht's defense argued that she was a victim of domestic violence and that the shooting occurred in self-defense.

The jury began deliberating just after 4 p.m. on Friday.

Focht faces charges of first and third-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

DAY 2:

The second day of the trial of Nancy Focht included additional state police testimony on the ballistics evidence recovered at the scene, as well as a playing of Focht's interview with state police following her arrest.

Focht's son then took the stand and testified to his parents' relationship and comments that his mother reportedly made to him following the shooting.

The son, who was living with his parents months prior to the incident, testified that Focht's husband had been recovering from surgery around the time of the shooting.

He also stated that his parents reportedly did not fight other than "normal bickering."

The defense continuously claimed that Nancy Focht was a victim of domestic abuse.

Her son also told the jury that Focht had allegedly confessed to him that she "did it."

DAY 1:

The homicide trial began Wednesday for Nancy Focht, a Bedford woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in 2018.

During the first day of the trial, several state troopers testified about what they found at the crime scene.

Police allege that Focht confessed to firing two shots at her husband, striking him once, while the two were inside a shed located on their Kimmel Township property.

Troopers testified that an argument between Focht and her husband allegedly led to the shooting after her husband reportedly took off his wedding ring and told her "next time I put that on is when you're in your casket."

Focht claims that she and her husband struggled over the gun, during the argument, and that it went off.

Police testified that the autopsy report revealed no gunshot residue was found on her husband's clothes, disputing her claims that he was shot at close range.

The trial is set to continue Thursday morning and is scheduled to last through next Monday.
