Elk County, PA (WJAC) — An Elk County man is facing multiple drug-related charges after selling a woman bags of heroin and fentanyl that resulted in her death, police say.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called to a home on the 100 block of Neubert Street in Saint Mary's on Sept. 14 for a reported drug overdose.
Police say that, once they arrived on scene, they discovered a 24 year-old woman deceased with an uncapped syringe in her hand and nearby empty bags of suspected heroin and fentanyl.
The criminal complaint states that police recovered a cell phone at the scene which revealed a Facebook conversation between the victim and Jesse Weis, 27.
According to police, the conversation detailed the victim telling Weis that she only has one bag of heroin and fentanyl and two empty bags, and that she planned to use her last bag that evening wanted more for the following day.
Police say Weis told the victim that he had more heroin and fentanyl and that the victim requested to purchase a bag from Weis, and they arranged to meet at the Sheetz in Saint Mary's.
According to the criminal complaint, Weis told police that he met with the victim at the Sheetz and watched her use the drugs with a syringe.
The criminal complaint also states that Weis told police he then walked the victim home and that she seemed fine.
Police say that, when they asked Weis who supplied him with the drugs, he told them that, since he sold the victim the drugs, he was the dealer.
Police also say that Weis told them he deleted conversations with the victim after he discovered that she had died.
According to the criminal complaint, an autopsy performed on the victim revealed her cause of death to be acute multi-drug toxicity.
Online court dockets show that Weis is currently being held at the Elk County Prison with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 14.
